Science Campus 2024 - women in THz

Empowering the Future with Terahertz Technology

Women in THz is inviting all women who are studying a STEM subject or have just completed their studies or already have some experience in science and research to the terahertz.NRW network's first Science Campus on June 6, 2024.

Participants can expect a day full of insights and exchanges about the current world of terahertz research, targeted networking with other 'women in THz' and specific information about career opportunities related to terahertz technology. After all, the career paths associated with terahertz technology are just as varied as its use in security technology, quality assurance or materials testing, for example. That is why this science campus highlights various opportunities, such as our scholarship offers. At the same time, the current projects and prospects of the research field will be presented and there will be an opportunity to exchange ideas with committed scientists.

Program

During the morning of this day, we will visit the Fraunhofer Institute for Microelectronic Circuits and Systems IMS and the inHaus Center, where you can see specific medical applications of terahertz technology.

After a lunch break, a bus transfer will take you to the Ruhr University Bochum, where the next part of the event will take place. There, Prof. Ilona Rolfes, Chair of High Frequency Systems at Ruhr-Universität Bochum, will give you an insight into her research work.

Here you will also visit the laboratories of the Fraunhofer Institute for High Frequency Physics and Radar Technology FHR and the RUB. You will be able to continue networking with scientists. We look forward to welcoming you!

Who can attend?

Places are limited to ensure that participants have the best possible experience of all program items. Female students (from the 4th semester) and graduates in the fields of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology (STEM) can take part.

More about terahertz.NRW and 'women in THz'

The aim of our terahertz.NRW network is to harness the disruptive potential of this technology. This involves developing new mobile applications for communication, localization, material characterization, medical technology and environmental monitoring. terahertz.NRW is a network of Fraunhofer FHR, Ruhr-Universität Bochum, University of Duisburg-Essen, Fraunhofer IMS and Bergische Universität Wuppertal, funded by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

With 'women in THz', we want to promote and connect female scientists at different career levels in terahertz research, also in order to increase the representation of female researchers and scientists.
