DVB-S based passive radar imaging

Passive radars are a powerful tool to detect and image targets with no requirements for dedicated transmitting segments. In particular, DVB-S satellites represent an interesting choice for passive maritime targets imaging, assuring a permanent coverage over remote areas, even off-shore. This presentation shows the passive receiver SABBIA developed at Fraunhofer FHR, the applied radar techniques and the results achieved within a cooperation with the University of Rome „La Sapienza“
